My Ideal Tea Table

Growing up, I was the little girl with the teddy bears at the round table with a tea set placed in front of them. As an only child, I did my best to keep myself occupied and tea time was one of my favorite times of the day. I was a coffee lover at the age of two (I would steal my dad’s lattes and hide under the table) and I could care less about tea, but the tea set, the table, the outfits with the big hats from what I’ve seen in the movies inspired my little mind. I was mesmerized by the elegance a tea party could carry. When I went into adulthood a tea table and a tea set was one of the essentials I always wanted to include in my house. I wanted to create a tea table that was elegant, inviting, and customized by what I pictured to be my ideal tea party.

Vintage Grey Candle towers-

I have always been fond of the French farmhouse interior design; and so when I pictured the table, all I could think about was candle holders on each side. I didn’t know where I could find something high quality for a reasonable price; so I did some digging online but I couldn’t find anything that caught my eye. I thought that maybe an antique store would be the place to go, but they were either too old or not quite the right style. One day I went to Fred Meyer and looked around their decor section. I came across these beautiful grey washed out candle holders. Not only were they beautiful, but they were heavy, and the exact quality I was looking for. They were around $60 each, which at the time, I couldn’t afford. I waited a couple weeks because their decor always goes on sale, and they went down to thirty dollars! So I purchased them right away. They definitely add character to my tea party table and ultimately an elegant vibe. 

Flower vases-

I adore my boyfriend’s family, not only because they are loving people, but they have fantastic taste in fashion and home decor. I’ve mentioned before that my boyfriend’s family will drop off not only bags of clothes, but also boxes of decor that no longer suit them. One of his family members dropped off these beautiful little pink and blue pastel vases that went so well together. It reminded me a lot of my style when I was in high school; floral patterned skirts, tights, and lace everything! It also gave the tea party table a little bit of pastel color which works perfectly with the grey. It all meshed well together and now I am just as obsessed with them as the candle holders. 

Place mats-

When looking for my place mats, I was aiming for something with lace. I wasn’t entirely sure what kind of lace, I just knew I wanted them to be grey. I shopped online and couldn’t find anything that caught my eye. Nothing seemed like it was going to piece together with what I already had for the table. I looked at Fred Meyer and couldn’t find anything. Finally, my last resort, Walmart. I’m not a huge fan of Walmart because their quality is often lacking, but it can be hit or miss.. I came across these lace style grey place mats, and although I was looking for actual lace fabric, it looked like these could do the trick. I wasn’t too positive about these but when I brought them home and laid them down on the table, it all clicked! They went so well with everything else on the table, I knew I had made the right decision. 

The finishing touch-

I wanted to put something on the table that could feel inviting or give my company something to talk about. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for, but I knew I’d know it when I saw it. I went to a local jewelry shop called Desert Passage, and as much as I adore this shop, I try my best to stay away because I just can’t help myself. I go there for the crystals more than anything since they’re the only local crystal dealer. I came across some crystal balls which I love, but didn’t feel comfortable including those in my house. Next to the crystal balls I saw some selenite balls, and since I’m still a beginner  in the crystal world, I wasn’t sure what it was. The lady that worked there educated me on selenite, and not only radiates positive energy, but it can also charge your crystals you have at home! I thought, ‘ well why not kill two birds with one stone, take my money!’ Not fully aware at the moment where I was going to put it, I brought it home and tried it in a couple of different spots, but didn’t feel satisfied with any of them. Finally, I sat down at the tea table and saw a little gap between the vases and candle holder and it felt like it was meant to be. I sat it down right between them and it fit perfectly.
